On January 2, 2024, detectives stopped a maroon Pontiac Grand Am on Dupont Boulevard after the driver didn't signal. The driver, who had an active warrant from Sussex County Court of Common Pleas, was taken into custody. When detectives took the driver into custody, they saw drug paraphernalia that was concealed under their leg. Anthony Hitchens was in the passenger seat.

According to the state Fire Marshal, it happed December 25 at a home on Coulbourn Mill Road. A total of four dogs and a pet rabbit were rescued by firefighters from the burning home. Two of the dogs were transported to Pet's ER in Salisbury and are expected to recover. One bird and multiple fish died. Damage is estimated to be $350,000. The cause is still under investigation.
