Biography
Patrice Worthy began her career in fashion dressing runway models for AmericasMart in Chicago - working for designers like Michael Kors and shows such as Marshall Field’s Fash Bash. She went on to fit and dress the Ralph Lauren 2003 S/S runway show held at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York City. Inspired by her behind-the-scenes experiences, Patrice started a weekly fashion column at the Indiana Daily Student. The column paved the way for the intrepid writer to become the longest running arts editor in IDS history and the first collegiate fashion editor to cover New York Fashion Week. Her work at the IDS culminated in Trends, the first fashion publication for the daily newspaper. Driven and self-motivated Patrice relocated to Atlanta, Ga. and hit the ground running covering exclusive fashion events as the fashion writer for The Examiner.com. In 2013 she launched pworthy.com, a publication dedicated to Blacks in the high arts. As a result of her work, she was named a 2015 Arts Leader of Metro Atlanta by the Atlanta Regional Commission. Her career path led to the Atlanta Jewish Times where she introduced soccer coverage to AJT readers - covering Atlanta United FC for two seasons. In her role at the AJT, Patrice conceptualized the theme for the 2017 Passover issue which focused on the Passover traditions of diverse Jewish communities. In 2018 Patrice won a first place Simon Rockower Award for her coverage of Ethiopian Jews in Israel. Following her time at the AJT, she was tapped to write for The Guardian’s “Atlanta Week” City Series. She leveraged the opportunity to introduce the world to the “New Atlanta Renaissance” - a phrase she coined and a movement she helped nurture with the pworthy.com platform. She continued to write for The Guardian where she became the lead contributor to the New Face of Small Business series profiling Black entrepreneurs. In 2022 she moderated a panel that brought the series to life at Pharrell Williams’ Mighty Dream Forum. Currently, Patrice works as a journalist writing for The Guardian and the BBC uncovering compelling stories to engage global audiences.
