Leading the country is Tallahassee, Florida (1,130 square feet); Gainesville, Florida (1,122); and Baton Rouge, Louisiana (1,055).

  • Las Vegas Valley pending home sales post third-largest drop in US, Redfin says

Only Miami (17.4 percent) and Fort Lauderdale, Florida (16 percent) had steeper drops than Las Vegas. Houston (12.3 percent) and West Palm Beach, Florida (8.7 percent) rounded out the top five. Pending sales decreased in roughly half of the major metropolitan areas across the country, according to Redfin.

This is a 4.5 percent increase from the same time last year (end of February) as Redfin has the median home sale price in the valley at $439,301, which is just shy of a record high. The Las Vegas Valley has become a hotspot for immigration from other less affordable metros, said Chen Zhao, lead economist for Redfin.
