An experienced mother-tongue English journalist based in Munich, currently writing and editing for dpa and the Max Planck Institute, and contributing to publications in the UK and Ireland. Three decades experience as a news journalist, including 25 years with the BBC, leading news gathering teams in war zones and other challenging environments, including, between 2004-2009 as bureau chief in Baghdad.
