Biography

Patrick Ryan is a reporter at WIVB/WNLO-TV News 4 Buffalo and a Western New York native. Patrick joined the News 4 team in Nov. 2020 as a digital producer. In that role, he wrote breaking news articles and more across the platforms of WIVB.com. He previously worked as a newsroom intern for News 4. In Oct. 2022, Patrick moved on-air at News 4, becoming a general assignment reporter. In this role, he reports for the top-rated News 4 at 4, 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts. Patrick often appears in special reports for News 4. Patrick fills in on various newscasts behind the anchor desk as needed. He’s also provided reports for NewsNation and CBS News. Patrick is using his blend of digital and broadcast experience to provide content to the station’s new smart TV streaming platform WIVB+. He’s developed his own segment, “Patrick’s Passport,” providing an engaging guide to events around the Western New York community. Patrick has also appeared in various shows on WIVB+, including news shows Buffalo Brief and The Evening Dish. In 2021, Patrick received the BBA’s Tim Russert Media Career Award (Medal of Merit). He also received a second-place Journalists Association of New York (Formerly N.Y. AP) award for Best Digital Presence. In 2023, he received an Emmy nomination for team coverage of the November 2022 snowstorm. Patrick is an alumnus of SUNY Fredonia. Patrick is proud to serve Western New York and is always looking for story ideas.
