  • The Real Mother Goose

By Paul DiSclafani, Amanda Olsen Verified| Anton Media Group Verified By Paul DiSclafaniWe’ve been neighbors with Tom and Jackie in Massapequa since moving next door in 1988. Jackie was having breakfast the other day when her cell phone rang. It was her son John. “Mom,” John excitedly said, “You’ve got to come over here. I have a surprise. It’ll be so worth it.”Not that she needed an excuse to see her son, who lives just a few miles away in Lindenhurst, but the last time he had a surprise to show her, he discovered a turtle.

  • Not My First Earthquake

By Christy Hinko Verified, Paul DiSclafani| Anton Media Group Verified By Paul DiSclafaniLike many Long Islanders, I wasn’t quite sure what happened when the house shook at 10:23 am on April 5th. I was sitting on the edge of the bed, putting my shoes on (being retired is like scoring the late checkout in a hotel every morning), and not only felt something, but I saw everything vibrate for a few seconds. Living just a few hundred yards from the LIRR tracks in Massapequa, I can tell you that our house sometimes vibrates when the express train speeds by.
