Sheriff Fred Abdalla Jr. said the grant is expected to bring in more than $80,000 without any cost to the county. "We're excited to get the grant. It's a violent crimes grant, we're going to focus on trying to get guns off the streets," Abdalla said.

Davies was an athlete at Weir High who died after a battle with cancer at age 16 in 2005. Since then, his family has raised funds for WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center and a host of other charities, families and people needing assistance in their cancer battles. This was done through a memorial fund in Aaron's name.
