That's according to the new GSMA State of the Industry Mobile Money Report 2025 published this week. The report found that East Africa was the leading driver of monthly active account growth in 2024, followed by Southeast Asia and West Africa. East Africa contributed 32% of new accounts in 2024 and West Africa contributed 21%.
