Before that, I was digital content manager for NEWSnet in metro Detroit and also a digital producer for several Gannett Michigan newspapers. I also had worked as a reporter for the newspapers in Monroe, Michigan; Fremont, Ohio; Port Clinton, Ohio. My journalism degree was earned in 1988 from the University of South Carolina.

The report of a vehicle on fire, with a possible body inside, was made about 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Detroit Fire Department reported. The scene was a vacant lot in the 11100 block of Lappin Street, near 7 Mile and Hoover roads. Detroit Fire and Police both were called to that location. This is a developing story.   • Michigan House Oversight Committee demands election training materials from Benson

    By Paula Wethington Verified| WWJ-TV (Detroit, MI) Verified The Michigan House Oversight Committee has approved a subpoena to the Michigan Secretary of State's Office over the matter of requested, but not received, election-related documents. The Michigan House Republicans made that announcement Tuesday, citing a vote of the committee and its efforts over the past five months to access the materials. State Rep. Jay DeBoyer, R-Clay Township, who chairs the oversight committee, is now authorized to pursue the subpoena.
