Biography
Pauline Bartolone mostly covers health policy for Capital Public Radio, NPR's Sacramento-area affiliate. Her stories air throughout California through the Capital Public Radio Network. She frequently contributes to National Public Radio and Kaiser Health News, and occasionally wades into water and wildlife stories, too. Her feature storytelling has received three regional Edward R. Murrow awards, national recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists, and a first prize from the Association of Health Care Journalists. Before joining Capital Public Radio, Pauline reported on everything from Muslim polygamy, farm worker food access and chemical exposure in nail salons. She’s freelanced from seven Latin American countries, including the Ecuadorian Andes, where her coverage of climate change co-won a 2006 George Polk award in radio. Pauline holds an M.J. in New Media from UC Berkeley's School of Journalism.
