Biography

I founded Climate & Capital because I was sick and tired of the doomsday coverage about climate change. There had to be a better way to cover the most important issue of our era. C&C is an independent news hub at the crossroads of money and climate changes. We are non-profit and passionately independent. I have had a split career as both a journalist and financial services executive. I was a correspondent for Newsweek in New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. I then received a good education im the art of money and finance, working for JP Morgan, KKR, and most recently BlackRock. I hope to use that financial services experience to approach the money of climate change with a critical eye that offers a unique and new approach to reporting on the business of climate change. We hope to ‘connect the dots’ on how society will allocate capital in this new era of climate change. We will cover the risk and opportunities, and distinguish between what is truly green and greenwash. Most importantly, we see an opportunity to bring greater clarity, and focus to our climate.

  • Japan's dodgy coal gambit

By Peter McKillop| Climate and Capital Media Verified Japan stands at a climate crossroads. Its latest strategic energy plan, released in February, commits the government to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 73% by 2040. Yet it also says coal will continue to supply more than 40% of the country’s power generation mix. Japan’s solution to this paradox?
