Peri‐Carpathian Forest‐Steppe Grasslands: Distribution, Indicator Species and Extreme Species Richness
By Pavel Dřevojan, Petra Hajkova, Wolfgang Willner, Biodiversity Research| Wiley Online Library Verified 1 Introduction Grasslands of the White Carpathian Mts (Bílé Karpaty in Czech, Biele Karpaty in Slovak) have long been recognised as a species-rich ecosystem and a natural phenomenon of international importance (Jongepierová 2008; Klimeš 1997; Sillinger 1929). These grasslands have been part of the Protected Landscape Area Bílé/Biele Karpaty since 1980 and the Bílé Karpaty Biosphere Reserve since 1996 (Jongepierová 2008).
By Kathleen R. Stewart-Morgan, Cristina E. Requena, Valentin Flury, Petra Hajkova, Zoe Heckhausen| Nature Verified AbstractDNA methylation is a critical epigenetic mark in mammalian cells. Many aspects of DNA methylation maintenance have been characterized; however, the exact kinetics of post-replicative methylation maintenance remain a subject of debate. Here we develop isolation of DNA by 5-ethynyl-deoxyuridine labelling for mass spectrometry (iDEMS), a highly sensitive, quantitative mass spectrometry-based method for measuring DNA modifications on metabolically labelled DNA.

MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences
The MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) is a prominent biomedical research institute located in West London, England, on the Hammersmith Hospital campus. Established in 1994 and funded by the Medical Research Council, the LMS is part of the Institute of Clinical Sciences at Imperial College London. The institute is led by Director Wiebke Arlt and emphasizes a collaborative research environment that integrates scientists and clinicians. The LMS focuses on discovery science, exploring fundamental mechanisms of health and disease. Key research areas include the interaction of genes and the environment, biological sex differences, and changes in cell identity over time. The institute also organizes its scientific programs into areas such as Epigenetics, Genes and Metabolism, and Quantitative Biology. Additionally, the LMS offers a graduate training program to develop skilled laboratory technicians and engages in public outreach to promote understanding of science.
