J’avais été quelqu’un qui avait entendu parler de l’affaire Fualdès, au travers de mentions faites chez Balzac ou Flaubert. Cette affaire résonnait de Manière confuse en moi. Mais en premier lieu, celui qui m’a intéressé et qui est trop méconnu à mon goût, c’est Henri de Latouche. Un Berrichon, comme ma femme.

Une "affaire" née le 19 mars 1817, quand le procureur Joseph-Bernard Fualdès, né à Mur-de-Barrez, qui fut procureur impérial en 1811 a été assassiné. Son corps retrouvé flottant dans l’Aveyron, du côté de Layoule. Plus de deux cents après le mystère demeure.
