Biography

PJ Morales, a Miami, Florida native, is a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he has honed his skills as a media and journalism major with a focus on storytelling. He has a wealth of experience in the industry, having worked for the student newspaper, The Daily Tar Heel, from 2019 to 2022, where he covered sports and served as both Sports Editor and Director of Enterprise. Now, Morales wants to help organizations tell their stories to clients and readers. In the summer of 2021, Morales worked for the Charlotte Observer on the sports desk, covering local professional and college teams, as well as writing multiple stories about the North Carolina High School baseball playoffs. He continued to gain experience in the field the following summer, working for the sports desk of the Washington Post, covering a range of professional teams including the Washington Wizards, Nationals, Mystics, Football Team, and Spirit. Morales was also a member of the 2022 cohort of the Sports Journalism Institute, a premier workshop for minority sports journalists hoping to enter the industry. Morales's dedication to the field is further demonstrated by his involvement in the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, where he serves as treasurer and is a founding member of UNC's chapter. With his passion for storytelling and his desire to help companies and firms tell the stories of their products or clients, Morales is excited about the opportunities that await him after graduation.
