Morales was also a member of the 2022 cohort of the Sports Journalism Institute, a premier workshop for minority sports journalists hoping to enter the industry. Morales's dedication to the field is further demonstrated by his involvement in the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, where he serves as treasurer and is a founding member of UNC's chapter.
