Biography

Pramod Acharya is an investigative journalist from Nepal. Over the years, he has produced several groundbreaking investigations on human trafficking, public health, malpractice in academia, and other issues. Former assistant editor at Center for Investigative Journalism, Nepal, he has edited/written extensively about country’s local governance system. Acharya is an international speaker and trainer on cross-border human trafficking/smuggling reporting that has been invited to speak at conference and workshops. His stories and tip-sheets have been published in multiple languages in multiple locations including the United States, Europe, and Asia. With several cross-border investigative stories, he has already remained a fellow at Dart Center, Columbia University, New York; Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), U.S.; Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), Jordon; Norwegian Foundation for Investigative Journalism (SKUP), Norway; and other organizations. As a multi-platform content producer, Acharya is skilled in multimedia journalism with sound understanding on data visualization, mapping, and video storytelling. He started his journalism career as a reporter in a community radio station in Nepal in 2009 and has spent almost a decade working on electronic, print, and online media. Currently, Acharya is pursuing a Masters of Science in Journalism at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA. Previously, he studied Journalism and English Literature at Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
