We do not have any large or prestigious museums, no collections, no accessible local or state heritage, at least not facilities comparable to any other city with a similar populace. The small museums we do have are doing very good, very important work that serves our community on less than a shoestring of a budget. We should be funding them, too.

Over the past 100 years, the theaters have grown into a downtown landmark and a top place to visit. That’s when 34-year-old Peter Mang discovered he had cancer. “Whatever they told us, I didn’t comprehend it,” Mang said. “It took a while to actually realize what this was. Because I had never heard the word glioblastoma in my life.” Mang had a brain tumor. He says surgery helped remove 99% of it – and chemotherapy and radiation helped remove the rest. But he knew there was a chance it would return.
