Editor-In-Chief and Creative Director, SoCal Magazine

Los Angeles

Biography

A true jack-of-all-trades (and yes, a collector of actual hats), I’ve worn many creative titles—Art Director, Creative Director, Publisher, Executive Editor, and Editor-in-Chief—shaping the voices of various publications. Born in Los Angeles but drawn to the fast-paced energy of New York City, I spent a decade at Condé Nast, immersing myself in the world of storytelling, design, and editorial vision. Writing has always been in my DNA (I was Editor of my college poetry journal), alongside my love for photography and design. But if there’s one passion that has truly defined me, it’s travel. From an early age, I was captivated by the thrill of discovering new places, cultures, and perspectives. Over time, that passion has only deepened, turning my life into a journey of exploration—both creatively and literally.

  • Travel: Costa Rica

By Randy Dunbar| SoCal Magazine@ Summer approaches, and the idea of vacationing begins to take hold. Americans, in general, take 7-10 days off each year for international travel, and Mexico tops the list of favored destinations. Many Americans enjoy the concept of "bleisure" (where business and leisure are mixed), and it is growing in popularity. Another trend gaining ground is experiential travel, where immersive experiences (e.g., food tours, adventure travel) are favored over traditional sightseeing.

SoCal Magazine

SoCal magazine is a cultural portal for all things West. This magazine will speak to the owners of a SoCal lifestyle revealing an array of topics that can only be found here in the rich culturally diverse, geographically paradoxical state of mind that stretches from the ocean to the desert. We are about the people who create—art, music, film, from broadcast to podcast, people in the know. SoCal has reach — we have a wide audience that ranges from the north of Santa Barbara to the fringes of San Diego and even occasionally wander below the border to the sublime Baja coastline. The sprawl that is is SoCal encompasses so much diversity, both physically, emotionally and psychologically — LA is the unique American experience. We strive to be different, for that is what makes this place, the place we call SoCal so alluring.
