Saturdays festivities included a Cook-Off, Grits Eating Contest, Grits Toss, Corn Shelling Contest, Treasure Hunt, and the Grits Pit. But of course, it was about more than just my father’s favorite breakfast food, there were 95 vendors this year, some selling their own mouth-watering food, while the others sold clothing items and knick knacks.

The development provides 53 residences for individuals and families who are at or below 60 percent of the area median income. They will live in one of six buildings – two of which are newly constructed three-story buildings – and four historic buildings.
