However, there are others believed to have been involved in the deadly scheme. On March 31, a set of sisters and another person argued at a fast-food restaurant in north Crowley. “I hope people realize there are consequences to their actions,” said Police Chief Troy Hebert. Later in the evening, the altercation moved to the residential part of town.

The mayor of Jeanerette issues what he calls a plea, urging the wanted suspect to turn himself in. Police have identified Jaqualin Lewis, 17 of Jeanerette. Officers say he was the vehicle’s driver in the high-speed chase. Before the pursuit, Lewis faced multiple charges. Lewis is a wanted fugitive.
