Rex Siu has recently been the Assistant Chief of Staff at ABC News in NSW newsroom in Sydney. He is completing a Bachelor of Communication in Journalism at the University of Technology Sydney. Rex has been a digital journalist and editor at Central News, the award-winning news publication and website at UTS Journalism, where he covers politics, international, breaking news and runs multimedia, podcasts, and other projects. Rex was a Research Assistant at the UTS Centre for Media Transition (CMT) studying the implications of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for public-interest journalism during May - Aug 2023. The $21.6 billion city extension of the Sydney Metro M1 line between Sydenham and Chatswood has now seen more than 16 million trips made on its rails since its opening in August.

Experts who spoke to Central News said an escalation of the US’s trade war with China could hurt Australian exports, particularly wine, beef, lobsters and tourism, which had already been hit hard.

Polling stations for the ‘patriots’ Legislative Council (LegCo) elections on Sunday were near empty as less than one-fifth of the city’s population attended amid widespread doubts over the reformed electoral system and low voter enthusiasm.
