Biography
I'm a Maryland journalist. I started at my hometown newspaper in Ocean City and spent a while as the editor of the daily newspaper in Cambridge. I put three decades in at The Capital in Annapolis. I was editor of the Maryland Gazette for 12 years and was editor of Capital Gazette for six. I led the newsroom to a Pulitzer Prize after the 2018 attack that killed six of my colleagues. Now I'm using Annapolis as a lens on the world for The Baltimore Banner.
