Biography

Rick Rowden writes about developing economies and needed reforms to the global financial architecture. He has been published in Foreign Policy, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, The Progressive, The American Prospect, The Conversation, BBC News, Australian Outlook, and is a frequent contributor to The Mint Magazine (UK) and the Developing Economics blog. He has worked for several international development NGOs, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, and taught in the School of International Service at American University in Washington DC, in the Department of Global Studies at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) and in the Department of Political Science at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He has served as a consultant to many international development NGOs and UN agencies, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the World Health Organization (WHO). He completed his PhD on India-Africa economic relations in the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi and is the author of India-Africa Economic Relations in the New Global Economy (Routledge, 2025).
