With The Indianapolis Star since 2004, King has specializes in narrative projects and profiles. He was in Charlottesville during the violence of the white nationalist demonstrations working on a profile of one of the movement's leaders. He's written a book-length story on the youngest women sentenced to death in the United States, a series of stories on the path of a tornado that devastated southern Indiana and a tick-tock of an explosion that rocked a neighborhood. He's investigated abusive priests and the powerful levers of state government. King has also written heartfelt columns about his family's move from the suburbs to the inner city. King is a former SPJ Indiana Journalist of the Year. He recently was given the Kent Cooper Award by the Associated Press Media Editors for Indiana's top news story of 2016. Previously worked for the St. Petersburg (FL) Times, The Greenville (SC) News, the Anderson (SC) Independent-Mail. A native Kentuckian and graduate of the University of Kentucky.
