By Robin Intemann Verified| The Gazette (Colorado Springs) Verified I hope the number of empty tables at Saigon Café isn’t a harbinger of things to come for this established Vietnamese restaurant because Colorado Springs diners deserve the continued opportunity to enjoy the well-prepared cuisine. Unfortunately, the service doesn’t earn the same kudos as the food. Given the lack of other customers the night of our visit, I expected more attention from the lone front-of-house employee. There was never follow-up once our entrees arrived.

Fortunately, the latter is mostly overshadowed by the former. Even though it’s noisy, the best time to dine is in the early evening when the setting sun provides a colorful display over the mountains. Red’s has plenty of large windows, and a west-facing patio, that make it possible to enjoy the vista. The real draw, though, appears to be the food.
