By Roderick Mccormick| MDMH News@ Indianapolis, Indiana – In an effort to declare Section 504, a federal civil rights provision that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities, unlawful, the State of Indiana has joined the lawsuit. The United States Department of Health and Human Services “Final Rule” addition to Section 504 in May 2024 is being contested by 17 states, including Indiana, according to a complaint filed in a federal court in Lubbock, Texas in September 2024.
By Roderick Mccormick| MDMH News@ Indianapolis, Indiana – Warning warnings are being mailed to drivers who were caught speeding through a significant construction zone on the northeast side. Speed cameras are placed on the interstate where crews are working as part of the Indiana Department of Transportation’s “Safe Zones” program. After installing the cameras along a busy work zone on I-70 in Hancock County throughout the summer, INDOT reported a 70% decrease in speeding.
By Roderick Mccormick| MDMH News@ Bloomington, Indiana – After eight hours of labor by law authorities to free Samuel Baumgartner from his barricaded room at Homewood Suites in southwest Bloomington, where he allegedly held his 87-year-old mother, a rifle, and a small dog, he was taken into custody on Friday night. At 8:32 p.m., he was arrested on five new charges and two outstanding warrants from Monroe and Owen counties, one for resisting law enforcement and the other for failing to register as a sex offender.
