We took that to mean the common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) rather than the far less common Barrow’s Goldeneye (Albeola islandica) because the latter would surely have been noted by the two observers. Goldeneyes are in the same genus as the Bufflehead (Bucephala albeola).
