By Ryan Van Fleet| Keys Weekly Verified Last week we had a lot of green water as I mentioned in last week’s tip. As a result, we had a solid bite of yellowtail in about 75 feet of water. Yellowtail snapper is still one of my favorite fish to catch and eat, so it amazes me when clients aren’t as interested. We wahoo fished one day last week and went one for three. The bonus was we had a good amount of blackfin tunas mixed in. Another day we targeted mutton snappers and had one lonely vermillion snapper in the mix too.
By Ryan Van Fleet| Keys Weekly Verified This Week’s Fishing ReportLast week was a bit windy. With the full moon, however, I am happy to report a solid bite of wahoo. Several locals reported two to three catches of wahoo on a trip. The yellowtail bite along the reef has been outstanding. But, grouper fishing, at least for me, was a little slow. I feel like we caught everything but a grouper. Once we hit November only two months left of grouper season. There have also been some sailfish and an excellent bite of blackfin tuna.
