Post-holing occurs when someone sinks into the snow to the point where it becomes difficult to move. Summit County Rescue Group mission coordinator Ben Butler said that volunteers staged four rescue missions on Quandary Peak, a 14,000-foot peak, and one at Acorn Creek, north of Silverthorne, between Friday, April 11, and Sunday, April 13.

Ski patrol responded after a 46-year-old man was involved in a “serious incident” that occurred on the East Wall, Friday, April 11, A-Basin communications manager Shayna Silverman confirmed in a statement.
