    By Sami Mirza| WSET-TV (Lynchburg, VA) Verified (WSET) — There's good news for fans of disc golf in the Lynchburg area!The Bedford County Board of Supervisors voted to partner with the city of Lynchburg to co-host a pair of national Disc Golf tournaments next year. The board approved the $35,000 hosting fee for events in April and October of 2026. County officials estimate the tournaments will generate more than $5 million in business sales for Bedford County and Lynchburg, as well as more than $200,000 in local taxes for the area.

  • Two dead, one injured after being struck by train

    By Sami Mirza| WSET-TV (Lynchburg, VA) Verified ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) — Two people are dead and another injured after being struck by a train Sunday afternoon. Roanoke police say they responded to the 700 block of Drew Avenue NE just before 5 p.m.Upon arriving at the scene, they found a woman and a boy dead. Another boy was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released.
