The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the senior bureaucrat's candidature on Sunday. Bhadoo is a 1999-batch Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) officer of the Gujarat cadre. He has been appointed as the deputy election commissioner until July 24, 2024, the government notification stated.

The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi granted Khan bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. Khan was arrested on September 16 in connection with irregularities in recruitment for the Delhi Waqf Board.
