Work to repair the bridge, which was deemed to be unsafe, continued throughout the night. Diversion routes were filled with traffic throughout yesterday and this morning. Some motorists were stuck between junctions 33 (Galgate) and 32 (Broughton Interchange), for up to seven hours.
