Since 2014, I have covered hockey at all levels, from the NHL down to local youth teams. I have been credentialed at the AHL and NHL levels, including for the 2020 Stadium Series game between the Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche. From 2018-20, I served as managing editor of SB Nation's Jewels from the Crown, helping to direct daily coverage of the Los Angeles Kings. Currently, I've started my own Kings-centric newsIetter, Line to the Throne, and host the Locked On Kings podcast, bringing daily news and updates on the Kings. I also host the Monday and Wednesday editions of Locked On NHL. I have also previously written about music, books, and popular culture, as well as producing the occasional personal essay. You can probably spot the twist in this one just from that sentence.
By Sarah Avampato Verified| Jewels from the Crown@ Akil Thomas, drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round of the 2018 draft, made his NHL debut this week. The forward has seen limited ice time so far, but made a big impact in his time against the Sharks. Thomas’s first NHL goal, and first career point, came at 11:13 in the first period. Thomas and PL Dubois came down the ice together, with Thomas using other players as a screen to find the back of the net.
