"Anyone who comes down the block and looks at it says 'What is that?'" explained Billy Shaw. "It's an abandoned house. It's been here 20 years and needs to be dealt with."Shaw lives across the street from the home. He says, more so than just a visual frustration, the property is a health hazard. He said wild animals have taken up residence inside.

  • Man who assaulted police officer, chaplain, sentenced to less than a year in prison

Members of the law enforcement community and the chaplain community reached out to WRAL Investigates, outraged that the sentence was not longer. "The punishment didn't fit the crime," said Ralph Thompson, executive director for the Emergency Chaplains group.
