My mother has schizophrenia and there’s a chance I could too. Am I right to want biological children?
By Sarah LaBrie| The Guardian Verified One recent afternoon, I went with a friend to pick up her five-year-old from art class. Our progress walking home was slow. Her daughter wanted to examine every leaf. She wanted to say hello to every stranger. She wanted to be in the shade but not walk in the sun to get there. It took 20 minutes to travel a block, even longer to make the next. My friend did not get frustrated and neither did I. It felt like a privilege to watch them together.
By Sari Botton Verified, Sarah LaBrie, Annabelle Tometich Verified, Lilly Dancyger| Substack@ Since 2010, invariouspublications, I’ve interviewed authors—mostly memoirists—about aspects of writing and publishing. Initially I did this for my own edification, as someone who was struggling to find the courage and support to write and publish my memoir. I’m still curious about other authors’ experiences, and I know many of you are, too. So, inspired by the popularity of The Oldster Magazine Questionnaire, I’ve launched The Memoir Land Author Questionnaire.
