Natural habitat' means different things for different people. For me, and this has held true since a young age, it's a darkened cinema where the power of storytelling has the power to transcend and overwhelm. Since studying Media, Film and English at both school and university, I consider myself enormously fortunate to have parlayed my passion for cinema into a full-time career. I have more than 10 years experience as digital content editor for Cineworld cinemas. Since devising their first editorial blog in 2013, I have honed multifaceted skills in digital editorial and SEO, stretching myself across news pieces, long-form features and interviews with noted industry figures. I've also gained extensive freelance experience for the likes of the BBC, Den of Geek, Little White Lies, Flickering Myth and Composer Magazine. I am an advocate and keen enthusiast of soundtrack music, its application in film and its ability to transfigure emotions. I have interviewed several of Hollywood's leading film composers including Michael Giacchino and Howard Shore. In 2022, I am proud to have translated my passion for film music into The Sound of Cinema: Hollywood Film Music from the Silents to the Present. This analytical, academic study of soundtrack music explores the medium's nascent period, tracing it through Hollywood's Golden Age through a period of extraordinary experimentalism into the modern-day blockbuster arena. When not listening to music or watching movies, one can usually find me indulging in a sunny (when the weather allows) walk, or travelling abroad.
