The police believe accelerants were used in the fire and they have recorded the crime as arson. Tragedy stuck on April 3 when Ahmad Mamdouh Al Ibrahim was stabbed to death in the town centre aged just 16. He had come to the UK from Syria in search of safety, believing it would help him realise his dream of becoming a doctor. He had been in Huddersfield just a matter of weeks.
