The goose made a nest under the famed centerfield scoreboard’s right side. Its black and white head poked out over the evergreens in the concrete planter, surveying the 35,000 fans on hand.

    By Shamus Toomey|Block Club ChicagoVerifiedChicago — Fire severely damaged the historic Swift Mansion in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood, an 1892 mansion built by the founder of the meatpacking empire as a wedding gift to his daughter. The fire tore through the roof of the granite, castle-like, Richardsonian Romanesque building at 4500 S. Michigan Ave. The fire broke out Sunday morning. No was hurt in the fire, according to the Chicago Fire Department. The cause of the fire was not yet released.
