The city announced on April 17 that field employees in the city's popular parking division will be equipped with body cameras. The two parking coordinators, two full‐time parking ambassadors and 17 part‐time parking ambassadors are included in this new policy. They will have some extras around as well. This fiscal year's city budget allocates more than $27,000 for these Axon Enterprise cameras.

  • New positions OK'd for Wilmington Fire Department as city takes on EMS

At an April 17 City Council meeting, members voted to approve the addition of 30 new firefighters, an EMS manager and a battalion chief while deleting one lieutenant position. The money for these new positions is from the canceled contract with St. Francis Hospital, which terminated the deal early. The hospital will end its services on June 28.
