Biography
I am a soon to be graduate of Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism with an interest in pop culture and sports journalism. As a young journalist, I have always been interested in the intersection of sports and society. I subscribe to the theory that sports are a fun house mirror for society. They magnify, distort and exalt the worst and best elements of society as a whole. Sporting characters and situations are often more exaggerated, but they function as a key piece of how many people see the world. The authorship The Player’s Tribune allows athletes gives fans a uniquely personal window into that world. I enjoy the nature of language and the many ways it can be employed. As a student of history and journalism, and a former teacher, I have explored many ways to tell stories and the way they connect with people on multiple levels.

That’s what the Nuggets will attempt to do over the next few months as the NBA Playoffs kick off this weekend.
By Shane Monaghan|5280 MagazineVerifiedThroughout most of the winter, the University of Colorado women’s basketball team was the most dominant hoops squad in the state—quite the feat considering the Denver Nuggets are defending NBA champions. At one point in late January, the Buffaloes were ranked number three in the country, having compiled a 16-2 record with big-time wins against top 10 opponents like Stanford, University of Southern California, and reigning champion Louisiana State University.
