When people ask me what I do, I tell them "I explain stuff." That's because I cover a wide variety of fields, but they all boil down to taking things that normal people think are boring, and making them not only understandable but interesting. I have 20+ years of experience as a journalist and copywriter, including staff positions at InfoWorld, CommunicationsWeek, Computerworld, and the Idaho Business Review, as well as seven years as a research director for Gartner. I've also freelanced for a wide variety of websites and publications, including writing and edited blog posts for a number of technology vendors including IBM, HP, Laserfiche, and Redis. In addition, I won a gold Pearl Award for the best blog from The Content Council. I am a United States citizen and my home base and my tax location is in Seattle, Washington. However, since 2020, I've been a digital nomad, living in Aruba, Bermuda, Ecuador, Romania, Marrakech, Croatia, Tenerife, Malta, Crete, Sicily, and Cyprus.
