Biography

In my career as a communications manager and journalist, I’ve honed a wide expanse of skills: I’ve managed social media presences, curated newsletters, written features, and op-eds, created infographics, publicly represented Congressmen, and grown email lists exponentially. Following a year on Capitol Hill, I would relish the opportunity to bring my robust communications and journalistic experience to your team. As Communications Director for Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04), I have worked on written, mailed and broadcasted communications materials, including micro-targeted mailings and robo-calls. I have coordinated campaigns for Facebook, Google and Twitter advertisements, including list-building campaigns to build email lists and provide targeted issue-specific email communications. Via social media campaigns, I have built Congressman Steven Horsford’s subscribed email list—both with targeted ad campaigns and survey blasts—from under 2,000 subscribers in June 2019 to more than 30,000 subscribers as of June 2020. I have also executed targeted social media campaigns to raise awareness for various issue areas in the Congressman’s portfolio. Part of my duties include coordinating social media town halls, as well, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter livestreams on a variety of different topics. As Social Media Manager at Rewire.News, I increased our average social referrals per month from an average of 50,000 visitors from social per month to an average of 225,000 visitors from social per month in my first six months, and designed a new posting schedule to accommodate when R.N’s readers were most frequently online. In my tenure, social media surpassed search traffic as our top referrer to the website, a first in Rewire.News’ history. But the skills I honed extend far beyond social media. Additionally, I coordinated social campaigns around growing email lists and for special events, such as election night 2018 and the State of the Union, utilizing my ability to be responsive to news as it breaks in a way that drove traffic to the website and increased the organization’s visibility on social media. While at Foreign Policy, I updated and gave a new voice to the publication’s social media presence—one that now has over one million Twitter followers, a milestone I hit in the first six months in my time at FP. I also produced The Editor’s Roundtable podcast. I pitched topics, booked guests, wrote scripts, and edited audio files—a new, but welcome, challenge that served to tighten my storytelling skills in yet another medium.
