There's only a few weeks left in the current legislative session but Memphis lawmakers said they're confident they'll get the bill passed. So far, the proposal has already cleared some big hurdles. Last week, the bill passed the Education Committee in both the state House and Senate.

This venture started three years ago in collaboration with local artist Tad Pierson. The Binghampton Development Corporation (BDC) started partnering with Pierson in 2022 when the organization started its job program. The program's first project was creating the bike lane barriers. Andy Kizzee with BDC said the barriers were first installed along a one-mile stretch on Broad Avenue.
