But his latest find was particularly intriguing. The message, enclosed in a scotch bottle and sealed with a cork and a screw-top, was written on packing slips from the cargo ship that it was tossed from and tightly wrapped in the pages of an old women's magazine. It was 45 years old and in immaculate condition.

The group formed in 2008, originally as the 'Save Pambula Hospital' group, to advocate for certain levels of care at the Pambula site and surrounds. SOHI maintained a "watching brief", but President Sharon Tapscott said they've decided to fold, citing a "lack of traction".
