  • Markets close the short week with gains and a dollar under control

By Sofía Pantó Verified| Diario NEWS Online Verified The S&P Merval index rose 3% in its dollar version this Wednesday, benefiting from the decline in the Contado con Liquidación (CCL) dollar, which fell nearly 4% following the end of the exchange rate restrictions for individuals. In pesos, however, the BYMA index fell 1.5%, reaching 2,250,098.57 basis points. The improvement in the dollar price is due to the sharp decline in the financial exchange rate, which is boosting the performance of stocks measured in hard currency.

  • The dollar's sharp fall: it broke through the $1,200 mark.

By Sofía Pantó Verified| Diario NEWS Online Verified On the third day of the new exchange rate system, which allows for floating between bands and eliminates the currency restrictions for individuals, the dollar registered a sharp decline across all exchange rates this Wednesday. The official wholesale exchange rate fell $51 (-4.3%) to $1.155, driven by increased supply from the agricultural export sector. Meanwhile, at Banco Nación, the retail dollar fell to $1.130 for buying and $1.180 for selling, breaking below $1.200.
