The Ubyssey

The Ubyssey Publications Society is an independent non-profit organization that publishes The Ubyssey, the official student newspaper of the University of British Columbia (UBC). Established in 1918, it has been a vital source of campus news for over a century. The organization is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is managed by a board and president elected annually by the student body. The Ubyssey publishes a bi-weekly tabloid-format newspaper that covers a variety of topics relevant to the UBC community, including campus events and student life. It circulates 5,000 copies per issue and is funded by a nominal fee from UBC students. In addition to its publication, The Ubyssey offers training and development opportunities for students, helping them enhance their writing, communication, and design skills. The organization is also a founding member of the Canadian University Press, promoting collaboration with other student newspapers across Canada.
