Biography

Stephen Holland is a freelance multimedia journalist from Sligo, Ireland. Previously a reporter for The Irish Independent and The Sligo Champion, he covers everything from local politics to human interest features. Notably, his stories highlighted the ever-worsening Irish housing crisis, the socio-economic and political barriers faced by those with debilitating illnesses, and the humanitarian efforts to support refugees and address homelessness in rural Ireland. While completing his MA in Journalism at NUI Galway he received the award for Radio Production of the Year at the Student Media Awards (SMEDIA) for his documentary ‘Nun Left Behind’, which explores Ireland’s complex relationship with religion through the lived experiences of religious sisters.
