We can often pass it without giving it a second thought but we would soon notice if it went. There are many assumptions around the swan and when it was built, with some thinking it dates as far back as the early 1930s after the demolition of Stapenhill House in 1931. Others have linked it to the 'swan junction' and former Swan Hotel.

Members of Burton 351 ATC formed a Guard of Honour at Platform One, along with 50 youngsters from Burton’s Grange Infants School to welcome the Queen to the station. The entourage was then led outside the station where thousands of flag-waving members of the public had gathered waiting for her arrival.
