(KOLO) -An inmate was found dead Friday morning at the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said. The inmate, who the sheriff’s office is not identifying until next of kin have been notified, was found unresponsive in his cell at about 5:30 a.m.Life-saving measures were not effective and he was pronounced dead a short time later, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s office initiated a critical incident protocol.

UPDATE: Regional Transportation Commission public information officer Josh MacEachern said the car ran a red light and the car crashed into the bus, not the bus hitting the car. A bus passenger was taken to the hospital but that passenger’s condition was not immediately available. 8:40 P.M. UPDATE: The Reno Police Department said the driver of a car injured in a crash with a Regional Transportation bus Wednesday night has life-threatening injuries.
