I'm a communications professional, having worked in the fields of journalism and government communications for over a decade. I'm an award-winning professional journalist for the Ogden Newspapers chain in West Virginia, with experience as a print/online reporter, an editor, a radio news reporter and anchor, a podcast host and producer, and a TV news producer. I took a break from journalism to work in communications for two branches of government. My reporting has been awarded by the West Virginia Broadcaster's Association and the West Virginia Press Association. In my spare time, I volunteer as a producer, DJ, and show host at a local volunteer community radio station. Walker, who has served as a justice on the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals since 2017, will retire from the bench this coming June. According to an April 19 letter to Chief Justice William Wooton, Walker said she will retire from the state Supreme Court effective Friday, June 27.

But after bearing witness to the actions of the West Virginia Senate on the last night of the 2025 legislative session, I was pretty flabbergasted.
By Steven Adams Verified| The Journal Verified CHARLESTON — It is official: West Virginia has a balanced general revenue budget for fiscal year 2026 beginning in July, though the budget approved by Gov. Patrick Morrisey included several vetoes of individual line items to create more of an unappropriated balance to address future issues. In a press release late Thursday night, Morrisey announced that he signed House Bill 2026, the vehicle for next fiscal year’s general revenue budget.
