Strahler Verified| Crain's Chicago Business Verified John Rau, a banker who had a knack for reaching the top of several Chicago financial institutions and then moving on to something else, died early last week in Bloomington, Ind. He was 77 and was visiting the city as an executive in residence at Indiana's University Kelley School of Business, where he had been the dean. Patrick Hopkins, Kelley's current dean, said Rau died overnight in a hotel near campus of unspecified causes.
